AntiVirusDon is an independent, advertising-supported site for people trying to make sense of antivirus software, phishing, passwords, and basic network hygiene. The Tools
Six free tools sit at the core of the site: a Password Strength Checker, a Secure Password Generator, a Data Breach Cost Calculator, a Phishing URL Checker, a File Hash Generator, and a Port Scanner Simulator. Every one of them runs in your browser — no account, no upload.
How They Work
The password checker estimates entropy from length and character variety, then converts that into an estimated crack-time range and a Very Weak to Very Strong rating. The generator draws its randomness from the Web Crypto API, not a predictable pseudo-random function. The file-hash tool computes SHA-256, SHA-1, or SHA-512 checksums locally, and the phishing checker looks at a URL’s structure — raw IP addresses, look-alike characters, unusual TLDs — without ever visiting the link itself.
Where The Numbers Come From
The breach-cost calculator multiplies the records-exposed figure you enter by industry-average per-record cost figures, then adjusts for factors like regulatory exposure or a slow response. It is a planning estimate, not a quote or a prediction for any specific incident. The port-scanner tool is a reference lookup of well-known TCP/UDP ports and their common risks; it performs no real scan and contacts no host.
The Museum
The Cybersecurity & Cryptography Museum is a separate, browsable timeline of the codes and ciphers of history, the locks and physical security hardware we can hold, and the digital threats and defenses of the connected age. Every entry, image, and fact in it is drawn from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons.
